Aerating is the process of scooping or “coring” holes into your lawn so oxygen, water and nutrients can penetrate deeper into the soil. Aerating also can break up soil that’s been compacted and hardened by heavy summer use.

When you aerate and get oxygen deeper into the soil you are encouraging deeper roots, which in turn will improve a grass’s drought tolerance and durability.

Power Rake

Power Raking is a great way to remove dead debris and crust that builds up on a lawn over Winter. It’s also a gentle way to remove a small amount of thatch from the lawn, without causing the significant damage that dethatching can cause.

We recommend Power Raking in early Spring, before new growth has begun. The service is especially effective combined with Over-Seeding, as it opens the lawn surface so that new seed can get better established. It’s also a great way to thicken up bentgrass lawns, since Power Raking slices the surface stolons and stimulates new growth, thickening the lawn.

Lawn Over-Seeding

Over time, grass gets old and needs to be replaced. Worn-out lawns invite weeds. Overseeding is a fast, inexpensive way to help bring your lawn back to its lush, green self without tearing everything out and starting over.

Overseeding can help you get back to the thick, lush, green lawn you’ve always wanted. By spreading grass seed over your existing lawn, you can thicken up the thin areas, and your lawn will start to look terrific again.

Typically, you should aerate once in the spring and once in the fall. Even if your soil doesn’t become too compacted, aeration is good to cut through any thatch build up in your lawn.
